Vernon Baker

Of all the stories I have produced and reported over the years, this story is my favorite. It is the story of Vernon Baker who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during World War Two. But due to segregation and racism, it took more than fifty years for the Army to finally honor Vernon for his valor on the battlefield. Vernon passed away in July, 2010. He was 90 years old.

The story won an Emmy for Outstanding Public Affairs Segment.

Nora & Marvin interviews

For five years, I produced and hosted Conversations, an interview series on KCTS television. I had the chance to interview authors, artists, newsmakers, athletes, and activists. Two of my favorite interviews with the writer and movie director Nora Ephron and award winning composer and conductor Marvin Hamlisch. They were fun, funny and genuine. Both passed away in 2012. I was fortunate to have spent time with them. Here are the interviews.

Consejo Spots

Consejo is a Seattle based non-profit that serves a largely Latino population dealing with issues related to mental health, drug and alcohol addiction and domestic violence. I was asked to be the on-camera talent two informational spots produced for KING 5 television about Consejo’s mental health services.  I was honored to do so.
